Delta 9 Drinks Explained: What the Label Term Means
Updated October 2, 2026
A delta 9 drink is a beverage whose label or listing names delta-9 THC, the full name of the compound usually shortened to THC. The term tells you which compound the drink lists. It does not tell you the flavor, the format or the kind of extract inside.
Kronton Elixir is a ready-to-drink THC beverage made with live rosin. Kronton's listings describe Cotton Candy and Mango Slushie as hemp-derived delta-9 THC beverages, and Strawberry Cough Splash as a hemp-derived THC beverage.
What delta 9 means on a drink label
On a drink label, delta 9 is short for delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol, or delta-9 THC. The number marks where a double bond sits in the molecule. A label that says delta-9 THC is naming one specific compound.
| Term | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| Delta-9 THC | The compound the drink lists, by its full name |
| THC | The short name for the same compound |
| Hemp-derived | The plant the extract comes from |
| Live rosin, distillate or isolate | The kind of extract the THC comes from |
| Per serving | The THC content the label states for one serving |
| Indica, Hybrid or Sativa | The strain type the brand labels a flavor with |
Delta 9 THC and THC: one compound, two names
In everyday use, THC means delta-9 THC. Delta-9 THC is the fuller chemical name, and THC is the short one. Some labels and listings use the long form, and some use the short form.
Kronton's own listings show both. The listings for Cotton Candy and Mango Slushie say hemp-derived delta-9 THC. The listing for Strawberry Cough Splash says hemp-derived THC. Each product description lists Hemp-derived THC.
When wording differs from one product to the next, the lab report is the document that shows which compounds a lab measured. Each Elixir product page links its own report.
Hemp-derived delta 9: where the extract comes from
Hemp-derived describes the source. It says the THC was extracted from hemp plants. It does not name the compound on its own, and it does not say how the extract was made.
Kronton Elixir's THC comes from live rosin. Live rosin is a solventless concentrate made from fresh-frozen plant material. Kronton states that it uses live rosin, not distillate, not isolate. What is a live rosin THC drink? covers this in more detail.
Delta 9 vs delta 8 as label terms
Delta 8 and delta 9 name two different compounds. Delta-8 THC has the same atoms as delta-9 THC, with the double bond in a different position. That is why the two names differ by one number.
So a drink labeled delta 8 lists a different compound than a drink labeled delta 9. Read the number on the label, then check it against the lab report.
Kronton's catalog has no delta 8 product. Every Elixir listing names THC, and two name delta-9 THC.
THCa is a third name you may see on hemp products. It is the acid precursor of THC, and heat turns THCa into THC. The guide THCa vs THC (Freezo guide) covers that pair.
How delta 9 drinks are made: live rosin, distillate and isolate
A delta 9 drink starts with an extract. When you compare drinks, the first thing to look at is what the THC comes from.
- Live rosin: a solventless concentrate made from fresh-frozen plant material. Kronton Elixir is made with it.
- Distillate: a different form of extract. Kronton states that it does not use distillate.
- Isolate: another form of extract. Kronton states that it does not use isolate.
The second thing is the format. Shoppers look for THC drinks as sodas, teas, lemonades, shots and drink mixes, among others. Kronton Elixir is a ready-to-drink bottled beverage in a 375 ml bottle. It needs no mixing, and it is shelf-stable.
The third thing is the label. Each Kronton bottle's label states its THC content per serving. For a fuller comparison, see THC drinks: what to know before you buy.
Matching the label to the COA
The label states what a drink lists. The certificate of analysis, or COA, is the lab document. Each Kronton Elixir product page opens with a link to its COA, and the Premium Bundle page links all three.
- Open the product page and click the COA link at the top of the description.
- Check the product name, the product format and the lot or sample reference on the report against the packaging in hand.
- A matching product name on its own is not a match. A laboratory sample reference is not always the same number as the batch code printed on a package.
- Compare the compound the report lists with the term on the label, delta-9 THC or THC.
- When the two do not line up, ask the store through Contact Us.
A product with no report published here is not a product without a report, and a published report is not by itself proof that it covers the lot in hand.
